There's still room for a couple more answers in the survey (which means a couple more chances to win a $40 Wolfie and the Sneak Shopping Spree!)
In local news, it's hot as hell and there seems to be no relief in sight. I have been so exhausted since returning from Blogher that I've been hiding out, resting and doing a fair amount of Summer-time blues fretting. The garden is largely ignored, and the annuals are just going to die. I'm not going to give them that much extra water for flowers I won't even see.
Fortunately, it keeps me inside drawing. On the flip side of that, I'm antsy feeling on the inside, so it's a long and frustrating feeling of being unproductive, incoherent, and generally unable to express myself through art. Still that damned "pregnant" feeling.
Check out Keri's post (Aug. 1, 2007), it's much more eloquent, less whiny. Much more at peace with the way the world affects her.
But it has given me time to think about this great big "world wide web" and how that, too, affects my work. It's really a delicate web that can be inspirational and defeating simultaneously.
So here's the question of the day:
How do you, as artists/writers/seekers of creativity, rationalize the the use of symbolism if you weren't the first one to popularize it?
