thievery you wouldn't believery

Well, it seemed stealing was the theme for Tuesday. Turned out Tuesday morning someone 1) stole a bike from a couple houses down, 2) went through a neighbor's shed, 3) kicked in a couple front doors in the neighborhood and stole a TV and some jewelry from one place then was interrupted at the second one and didn't get anything.
Our house was fine, nothing missing, nothing kicked in, but we did notice that afternoon a little spot in the middle of the back yard where someone seemed to have had a little sit-down and junk food fest, kindly leaving a Snicker's bar wrapper, half a Gatorade, and an empty bag from some ranch Doritos.
Coincidentally, their picnic location was right under our bog old chestnut tree. I hope they sat on one.
Another neighbor apparently saw the look-out, a middle aged woman standing outside smoking a cigar. . .at 7 AM. Weird weird world.

In order to distract myself from the ugly occurrences, here are some really nice things to think about.
In my neck of the woods--SOWN, beautiful pillows from seedsack, handmade in Raleigh.
Asheville's Alenna Henessy as guest blogger on Design Sponge, covers her own local favorites, including Amber Mahler, an incredible jewelry designer, also from Asheville.

A Browner Brown's Monday Book series will keep my list for goodreads going.
